Nancy Holt: Perspectives features three of Nancy Holt’s innovative moving image works from the late 60s and 70s, which highlight her keen ability to deconstruct and reassemble perception. Holt’s interest in systems both human, ecological and cosmological can be seen in Sun Tunnels (1978), which documents her iconic installation in the Utah desert which is attuned to the movements of the sun and stars. Holt’s sharp wit and sense of humor are captured in East Coast/West Coast (1969), a video in which Holt and her husband, the artist Robert Smithson, playfully parody the stereotypical archetypes of East Coast and West Coast art scenes.
But don’t take our word for it — both the New York Times and Cultured Magazine selected it as a must-see show!
Dunkunsthalle wants to thank: Lola Kramer, the Holt/Smithson Foundation, Electronic Arts Intermix, the Gretchen Bender Estate, Joshua Citarella, Henry Rich, Rhizome, Laura Coombs, Emmett Palaima, Lila Begas, Tony Tirador, Estelle Rubin, Danny Garfield and Julia Kaganskiy for making the show possible.
